Friday is my last day at the consulting firm I work part time. 18 months ago I went part time there so I could do my freelance engineering business full time. It had come in handy durning down times in my business.

Sooooo, things should get interesting. I partner with two small mechanical consulting firms doing their electrical design plus other clients. With one of them we just had two big presentations for two projects that will really help make up for loosing my part time work. We got one and are waiting on the other and hope to get it as well! :)

I sure appreciate this forum for its wealth of practical knowledge and willingness to help one another. Thanks!

I had to lay myself off too. Now the government wants me to pay them for my unemployment. I have to file forms to do myself a cobra bridge. I'm not sure I can still afford to do that and if I did I think that's considered employed and then I would have to fill out my OSHA and payroll forms. After which I would have to reapply for unemployment. Oh boy.

I just realized they now own my liability insurance company, my mortgage, my bank. I got out a dollar and realized they have their names on the money, (I think that's them), so I guess they can do what they want with me. Its like work-in for the man all over again. Except my job definition keeps changing.
Wouldn't it be funny if all this bad money thing and "economic recession" was just a Microsoft glitch and will be fixed with the next security update?

Sorry to hear about your turn in cirrcumstance. Good luck, I guess its time to get creative.

We have had the largest number of lay-offs in the electrical industry here in Florida since probably the Great Depression. I am currently working on an IAEI membership fund program with my local Division to help provide some support and assistance to IAEI members that have lost their jobs.

If the program proves itself, I will work to expand it to the Chapter - statewide level and then perhaps to the Section Level.

Hang in there guys... And best of luck to you...
