Sorry if this has been here before, but I just saw it today for the first time. Some very good info and they make real arcs using a 7,200 volt primary.

And his references about the electricity going to "ground" were not particularly misleading, since he was looking at MV/HV where ground electrode resistance will not limit the current.
It's a good demo, but it's far from a realistic simulation of an actual 7200V primary contact. The fault current is WAY lower with this demo rig than in real life. There are plenty of videos of actual power line faults (and, unfortunately, human contacts) and the results are terrifying in comparison.
