Hey everyone thanks for all your help on my last question. My study buddy and I disagree on this one so we are looking for some help....

"A 2 story office building with outside dimensions of 450' by 100'. Figure the total computed general lighting load when the exact # of receptacles is unknown."

I'll post our two answers after we get some replies
Thanks again in advance!

ok here is one answer..

450x100x2=90, 000sq feet at 3.5va per sq ft =315,000 at 125%=393750=39.4kva

The other question I had is also in this exam prep thread gravity..

answer#2

answer#2

450x100x2=90,000sq ft at 4.5va/sqft (office building plus 1 va for outlets)=405000
at 125%=506250va or 50.6kva.

You have forgot the little "b" note to Table 220.12.

This note refers you to Part (K) of Section 220.14. Since you don't know how many receptacles there will be, you can't compute using (1) - 220.14(I), therefore you must consider (2) and add an additional 1 VA/Sqaure ft. to your calculation.

So you are saying the second?

So you are saying the second?

Ok that is what we thought, as you can see by our second calculation. The bummer is neither of us remember if the 50.6 kva answer was on the exam. Thanks for the input gravity.....anyone else out there with an opinion that relates?
