Other than complying with a print spec or matching what's already in a building, is there any other compelling reason to use one particular exit sign color over another?

You're not the first color blind electrician I've ever known. That confounds me. I worked alongside one for a spell, and he would sometimes have to ask me the difference between red and green or blue and green. Pulling wire was no big deal, since the rolls had labels on them. I remember one time he made a big boo-boo and put the red conductor on the ground pin when putting cord caps on a bunch of cords for machines.quogueelectric said:I am colorblind so I dont care what color you use it is all the same to me.
I'd have made a poll if I was more sure that it was a matter of preference and not that maybe some code applied. In any event, I'm sure red would have won, since that's normally the color you see, and the normal stock color at the supply houses. I do think the green looks more "classy", but I also think the red is easier to see. An edgelit, green, all glass exit sign is my idea of the top of the line.cadpoint said:What no poll ? Interesting. Why do you think that is? I understand that green is the European standard. Coud that be it?Pierre C Belarge said:We see more and more green exits here lately.
Some of the larger Municipalities are starting to require them. I would venture to say that in the not too distant future we will see mostly green exits for new work.
