What does the green tip signify? I assume it means low mercury, if so how does this relate to recycling/hazardous waste?
I read somewhere you can chuck the green end tubes in the trash. While the silver ones you should not.

I have heard you can if they are in the original packaging What the packaging has to do with it I don't know, but thats our government at work.
Green tip also means hard starting and shorter lifespan in a lot of older fixtures as the ballasts aren't up to igniting the lamps with lower mercury content.
Another so-called "environmentally friendly" idea that results in increased waste and consumption. :roll:
