Is it legal to use ground wire in MC as A hot?I know its a dumb question but I have referenced art 330, art 250.118 and art 250.2 fpn and still am confused!!No matter what electrical practices WE all have, I still cant find anything in the code as long as the wire is identified at the source. Please reference NEC Article. Thanks

250.119 Identification of Equipment
Grounding Conductors
Unless required elsewhere in this Code, equipment ground-
ing conductors shall be permitted to be bare, covered, or in-
sulated. Individually covered or insulated equipment
grounding conductors shall have a continuous outer finish
that is either green or green with one or more yellow stripes
except as permitted in this section. Conductors with insula-
tion or individual covering that is green, green with one or
more yellow stripes, or otherwise identified as permitted by
this section shall not be used for ungrounded or grounded
circuit conductors.

Thanks Action Dave!! I just needeed an art to match this. I would never do this its from a previous contractor!! Im just trying to make it right and justify their wrongdoing. Thanks Again!!

Not only that I think you would no longer have an acceptable EGC for the circuit as required in 250.118(10) I think there was a reason MC includes a green grounding conductor.
Good point.

You're welcome.
