Greenfield questions

Just got a steal of a deal (depending on answers here of course) on a 500' roll of 12/2 w/o ground greenfield armored cable. It is a Southwire spool and the spec on it says the sheathing is a legal grounding path (although the tag on it says 2001) Is it? And if so are the connectors alone the legal grounding path when stopping at one metal box for a fixture or switch and then continuing on to the next box? Just seems odd to me, but I have never worked with it before.

It's not really Greenfield. Greenfield is a trade name for Flexible Metallic Conduit. What you likely have is type AC cable or commonly known as BX. Yes you can use it as you've described.

What you have is not Greenfield, it is AC, read article 320 for the specifics.
