Hello all. Just picked up this used Greenlee 880 bender with a Greenlee 755 pump but it will not build up pressure. I’ve used these plenty in the past and am familiar with how it works. Unfortunately I’ve never had to try to repair one. Any insights on where to check it out would be appreciated. The ram will move about an inch but as soon as it builds up resistance it just won’t go any further. It just stays in that position. It takes quite a lot of handle throws just to get it to move that small amount until it stops. Thanks for any help

The release needle valve could be damaged so it does not completely seat. That along with low fluid as suggest in the previous post are the most common reasons. It could also be the pump seals requiring a rebuild of the pump.

There is a reason it was sold, but Green will have a parts and service manual available. Greenlee builds a solid product and you should be able to get it working like new

Thanks to all who helped. Turns out had thick motor oil in the reservoir and needed a gasket replacement kit. For about $150 it worked like new and operates the Greenlee 880 bender like a champ. Not bad for about $950 investment. Pump and bender $800 and new oil and gasket kit $150. Thanks for sharing all the knowledge.

My dad sent his Greenlee pump out to a local hydraulic shop to get repaired back in the 1970's. I used it for another 25 years until I purchased a used one dirt cheap from a retiring sparky.
