i ran into a low voltage issue recently, one phase of 3ph utility feeds went low to 107v. utility goes and checks feeder regulators and finds one pegged in negative position. utility swaps out mechanicals on regulator and the issue happens again, they then swap out regulator and issue happens again, they remove bi-directional regulation and voltage stays in the 5% band of 120v (resi CT xfrmer, etc).

i talk to utility days later and they believe the issue is backflow from neighborhood grid tied solar systems.

interesting how changing the direction of power can cause havoc on high voltage regulators.
