I am changing out all the old outlets in a older house. Well the home runs to the panel have grounds but for some reason the rest of the wire is only two wire with no ground. The home owners want grounded outlets due to needing the ground spot for vacumns and ect. What can I do here. I appreciate all opinions.

You will find that domestic vacuum cleaners have 2-wire power cords.

The ground in the receptacle will be irrelevant.

2002 NEC

406.3(D)(3)(b) allows replacing non-grounding receptacles with a GFCI receptacles.

406.3(D)(3)(c) allows replacing non-grounding receptacles with grounding receptacles if supplied by a GFCI.

In both cases you need to mark the outlets "No equipment Ground" and in 406.3(D)(3)(c) you also have to mark GFCI protected.
