Ground Connection

I am bidding a project that has a radio repeater tower. They are calling for a #4 copper ground ring around the tower. They do no list any "approved" methods for splicing the ground ring together. I have used cadweld many times but where I am located now it is not readily available without buying your own set up, which doesn't make sense for 3 connections. What other methods would you suggest?

Since they are specifying a 4AWG sized ground ring, this ring is not recognized by the NEC as an electrode. To be recognized as an electrode, the conductor would have to be sized as per 250.52(A)(4) - 2AWG.

That would make this a auxilary electrode. I would ask the engineer or designer what it is they are trying to accomplish with this ring and what they want as the termination method. Let them be responsible for the design and you can be responsible for the installation.

Thank you, good direction to go.

You can get one time molds. They are ceramic and come with the disk and shot. After you shoot them and they cool you just break the mold with a hammer. Think they are around $12.00 ea

one shots would be your cheapest complete solution... getting them is
not an issue if you are in the contenental US.

erico makes cadweld, but the largest distributor, with usually more inventory
than erico, is mayday grounding, in buena park, calif.

they ups everywhere, there is no minimum order that i am aware of, and
they are good folk.
