Ground Fault Circuit Breaker Use

Article 406.3(D)(3) allows for replacing ungrounded receptacles with grounded ones if there is no grounding means by using a GFCI receptacle. What about using a GFCI circuit breaker to supply the entire circuit? I don't see anything in the code that says the circuit breaker option is okay.

In the '08 Code, 406.(3)(D)(3)(c) allows this.

Only if you can write real small.

"receptacles....shall be marked "GFCI Protected" and "No Equipment Ground".

Note it does not say that covers are suitable for marking. It says that the receptacles have to be marked.

I can't say I have ever seen anyone manage to get that many words on a receptacle.
