What happens on an ungrounded MV delta delta 2000kVA XFMR - 3 ph 3 wire if there is a ground fault and the XFMR secondary DOES NOT HAVE A GEC?
Pretty much nothing if the system is ungrounded. It simply becomes a corner grounded system. Having a GEC does not change anything.
I guess it becomes grounded, too. What about the Nec requirement 250.30(B)?

The GEC and the EGCs on an ungrounded system are there to provide a fault clearing path when there is a second ground fault. They really don't do anything else on an ungrounded system. What about the Nec requirement 250.30(B)?

Electrical equipment is bonded to ground to reduce damage from nearby lightning strikes. In a grounded system, it also serves as a path to trip an OCPD in case an ungrounded phase becomes grounded. We can’t guess - Nec requires it for a reason

I agreeDon, it appears the GEC can also be installed at the downstream switchgear if I’m reading 250.30(B)(1) correctly. Both are located indoors and within a few feet of each other.
