Ground Ring - Necessary?

I'm looking to add a lightning protection system to a very old building that is being completely renovated (all new distribution equipment). We will be installing a new grounding electrode system to support the new service entrance (though its unclear to me if a Ufer even exists in this building). Given that we're adding a LPS, does it make sense to add a ground ring to supplement the GES & tie the LPS to? There are some site constraints that would make adding a ground ring difficult, and this is a simple office building so I'm leaning towards it being not worth the cost. Thoughts?

The lighting protection system grounding electrode system is a separate grounding electrode system from the electrical grounding electrode system. While both NFPA 70 and 780 require a bonding connection between the two grounding electrode systems, a common grounding electrode system cannot be used for both the lightning protection system and the electrical system.
You need to review NFPA 780 for the types of electrodes that are required for a LPS.
