I am installing Automated Payment Machines outside our park entrance kiosks. They are essentially a metal cased ATM machine bolted to a concrete pad. The machine is about 10' from the building, fed by a single 20A GFCI protected circuit, and has a data / phone line which also shares a trip signal for the building alarm system. There is no structure covering it, and this is a lightning prone area. Do I need a separate ground rod at the machine as I would for an outdoor luminaire or is the EGC enough?
In another installation, the machine is right against the building, under the eave. Any different need for that one?
Thanks for your input!

A ground rod is not necessary since the separate structure is only fed by one circuit. But you could install one as a supplementary electrode if you like.

Will an ATM spit out all the money if it gets hit by lightning? ;)

Only after the customer's lawyer gets don with us!

Thanks for the replies, I just wanted to be sure.
