The only limit I'm aware of would be the capacity of the clamp being utilized.

There is no limit however, it might take a little creativity to come up with a clamp assembly for very large conductor.

There may not be a limit but the NEC only requires a #6 to a ground rod 250.53(E)

This is the largest I can find it goes up to 4/0.

You could get cadweld molds made for any size.

If we do a power company transformer pad we usally have to cadweld 4/0 copper to 3/4" x 10' rods.

Burndy's "GAR" series of clamps will let you put up to a 250 kcmil conductor on a 1/2" rod and up to 500 kcmil for rods larger than 5/8".
