So if I have a meter pedestal with a meter disconnect (allowed by and field marked per 230.82(3)) and have the service disconnect located at the structure being served, does anything in the 2014 NEC require the pedestal to have a grounding electrode system installed?

I do not think so, it is not the service disco. It seems to me that that basically one could say that is still POCO territory in a sense. A GES could be established there, but I do not think it has to for the NEC.

Edit, I reread 250.24(A)(1) and I am gonna stick with my answer-at least until some one points that I am wrong.:)

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought but couldn't find proof. It's good to know that I haven't completely lost it yet. Happy Turkey Day to all.

I've bonded each metal uni-strut member together and connected to a ground electrode before that had a meter disconnect mounted on it. Reason being if a conductor comes lose and energize it's enclosure and thus energizes the metal uni-strut it's mounted on, the current then has a safe path. If it's mounted on concrete I don't see the need

If done properly everything will be bonded (to the service grounded conductor if we are talking service equipment). I dont see a redundant bonding system as necessary. Note also the ground rod(s) cant equalize the potential between the enclosures and the Dirt a person would be standing on.
