ground rods for 2 meters

I am removing a double meter base on duplex apartment and going back with two seperate meter base , outside 200a disconnects and risers. My question is will I be required to install 2 ground rods for each disconnect box or can both be connected to the same pair of rods. The boxes have about 7 inch space between them. They do require the two rods here on a service. There will only be one service drop from the poco. They will connect both risers to the same drop.
 
you still have only one service with the allowed one to six disconnects.

only one GEC required but if the service is in multiple enclosures you can make taps to the GEC.

OK so i can just lug the ground wire from one disconnect onto the one from the other box and then install the ground system same as for a single disconnect.

The first question is are there any required existing electrodes (mainly a metallic water pipe). If so here is your primary electrode GEC must be sized for total service entrance conductor size if multiple conductors are used (which you have here). There should be a bond between service enclosures, which taps to the GEC would take care of this. If there is water pipe electrode then there needs to be supplemental electrode which a ground rod is acceptable. connection of ground rod(s) have many options especially if it is not the primary electrode.

If I had water pipe to ground I would probably make this connection on inside panels if that is what you have, and probably connect one ground rod to each meter socket on the outside. there are other ways to do this that are also acceptable.

add: I see your OP says disconnects are outside next to each other.

each disconnect requires most likely (depending on service entrance conductor size) #4 copper GEC but the whole service (again depending on service entrance conductor size) required #2 copper GEC.

I would probably run the #2 to water pipe (if needed) from one of the disconnects. This is your main GEC. I would then tap a #4 from the #2 to the second disconnect. I would then tap the ground rod(s) to the #2 GEC.

250.64(D) addresses grounding multiple service disconnect means. You can review that to see the options, but basically your grounding electrodes (rods, water, steel, etc) must connect (a) from a common location or (b) from each service disconnect means.
In your case most electricians here run a GEC from each disconnect to the rods and tie the rods together but 250.64 gives you other options.
