Ground rods on generators

We are trying to stay compliant with NEC. We use 70-125 KW generators to supply our trailers houses on land rigs. Does our generators need to be grounded with ground rods? Was told generators may not need to be grounded according to 2014 NEC codes.

if it is a separately derived system, yes. if it is a non s.d.s. system, no.

If the generator is a SDS, then you need a grounding electrode system and a system bonding jumper. There are also new sign requirements in Art 702.
