j-Box in hot tub states Equipment ground should be same size as hots. I dont have any more info (manual). Does anyone know does this mean the same size from tub to tub disconnect (GFI) or from tub to main panel??? 6-3 Romex ground is smaller.

The NEC say's at least per Table 250.122

Yes your correct. I fugured it was a UL listing issue. I already about got this wired up and then noticed sticker on j-box cover. Didnt know if I missed others in past or if this was something different. Personally I would think it was to GFI breaker because you could have that in a subpanel and feeder to main panel would be different size wire.

No, it's an NEC issue. See 110.3. Yet, I've never heard of such a thing for Hot T installs. Heck, take a picture of the label, and send it over.

Many Hot tubs require the same size conductor for the ground as the ungrounded conductors. You must install it that way back to the panel to comply with the manufacturers install instructions

If that's the case, how would you comply using Romex?

Well you wouldn't be able to comply if the manufacturer called for a ground equal to the ungrounded conductors. You would have to use a method other than romex. I think it is bull but I have seen this written a few times now.

This is the first time I have run into this. I didnt notice sticker stating this until I was just about done with job. I was hoping to avoid rework? I just didnt know if this was something recent or if I had missed something for a while.

I agree, it should be part of the listing that the ground only needs to be as large as required by the NEC. UL are you listening.

Since I have already wired half of this up in Romex is am looking a way to finish this without a bunch of rework. I am thinking of running #6 conductor from disco back to house (already in conduit) where it switches to Romex run conductor along romex. It is running along band joist but Im not sure if this complies with 300-4. I wouldnt do this way from the beginning but I didnt know about the ground issue at time. Any input???

If you read the manufacturer specs.. and met them I'd ignore the j-box sticker. Maybe it's for a different hot tub or for who knows. You're done, it's safe. Move on. : )

Here is an idea that I did not see suggested.

You make the installation per the manufacturers instructions no matter how odd they might be and then you charge the customer for that work. :)

I know, I know ...... thats just a stupid idea.
