GROUND WIRES ON MC AND EMT

was told recently that we need at least 6 inches on the ground wire before the ground screw on steel box, so that if the emt seperates or mc is damaged to insure the ground stays unbroken.Can any one back this up with code #

What if the EMT seperates 7"? Nothing in the code about 6" required for the ground wire.

Perhaps someone was getting their signals crossed with 300-14(1999)...requiring 6" of free conductor...??

I agree with Dana. I think your inspector is (improperly) citing 300.14. Reading the section a few times, it seems like an easy mistake to make.
