I am wondering if anyone may have a copy of the 1965 NEC and would tell me what it says in regard to "Use of Grounded Conductors for Grounding Equipment." I have a 1971 Handbook and section 250-61(b) states that "A grounded conductor shall not be used for grounding noncurrent-carrying equipment on the load side of the service disconnecting means or the load side of a seperately derived system disconnecting means...."

I am wondering if the 1965 edition had essentially the same wording/meaning. Thanks in advance for any help!

Dan

From the 1965 NEC:

250.61. Grounding Equipment to Circuit Conductor. The grounded service conductor on the supply side of the service disconnecting means may be used for grounding meter housing and service equipment and metallic enclosures and guards. The grounded circuit conductor on the load side of the service disconnecting means shall not be used for grounding equipment, cable armor, or metal raceways except and provided in Section 250.57 (b-4), and in Section 250-60.

It was changed in the '68, and again in '71.
