I recently saw a grounded 3-phase system that I couldn't figure out, since my engineering is more mechanical and civil.
There were 3 wires coming over a pole line to an oil well. Two wires were on insulators but the other was not and was grounded at the transformer pole.
I think I remember that one or both of the ungrounded wires, and the grounded wire, were connected to each of two transformers.
The secondarys of the transformers were connected to deliver 4-wire 240 Volt 3-phase to a small industrial building in addition to the well.
Does anyone have an explanation of this kind of system or a link to where I can find out how it works?
