grounded PV conductors

I was taught that the PV grounded conductor should continuous from the array to the inverter.
as per NEC 2011 690.41

shows the grounded conductor wired through a Square D disconnect at 1:20:37

In Mike Holt's book, he shows a picture of the inside of a dc disconnect that meets the Exceptions to 690.13. You can break the grounded conductor if the disco is: (1) used for PV array maintenance only; (2) accessible to qualified persons only; and, (3) rated for the max possible voltage and current.

Maybe that's what you're looking at? Hard saying without more info.
