Grounding an Antenna Mast 820.40(B)

820.40(B): ?Electrode. The grounding conductor shall be connected in accordance with 820.40(B)(1) and (B)(2).?

How can this be grounded in accordance with all the criteria in both of these? Am I reading too much into this :-?

Its not saying at the same time. If the building is grounded, use (1) if its not then use (2)

I understand it the same as you.

The wording needs to be changed, "with [one of the items in] 820.40(B)(1) [or] (B)(2)"
 
FWIW, that has been corrected in the 2008 edition of the NEC.

PS: That stipulation is under 820.100(B) in NEC 2008

Good this maybe on the mend, California is still on 2002 and I'm actually refering to 2005. I'll check out the 2008 though. :)
