Can someone direct me to the section of the code that allows for grounding clips on old two conductor outlets.

clarify please.
Old house, some renovation done in the house, building inspector now says that the old non-grounded outlets have to be changed for grounding outlets. There are clips that can attach to the metal gem boxes that will provide a grounding pigtails to the new outlet.
Just need to know that those grounding clips are up to code.

Where are you getting a ground/EGC from?

An ungrounded gem box with clip is still ungrounded.

The ground is coming into the box by means of the metal bx cable attachesd to the box. So the box is grounded, but, even tho the outlet is attached to the box is technically grounded, it is not legally grounded.

Use a self grounding rec. No clip or tail needed.
