I have a concrete encased electrode as per N.E.C. 250-52(A)(3) with a #4 bare copper that is connected to the neutral at the meter and also is tied to the building steel of the metal building. Our local inspecting authority has stated that because the "sole connection" is at the meter point that the building steel must comply with table 250-66, please reply.

Re: Grounding Electorde Conductors

Sounds like your UFER is OK, but he wants the building steel GEC to be sized per table 250.66. I guess I do not understand your question, building steel has to be used if availible.

Re: Grounding Electorde Conductors

If the grounding electrode conductor is run from the service equipment, which in this case the inspector is including the meter socket, to a water pipe or building steel and from that point
to other electrodes described in 250.66A-C, that portion of the grounding electrode conductor from the service equipment to the water pipe or building steel is sized from table 260.66. The other grounding electrode conductors are sized per 250.66A-C.
