I know that prior to the 2017 code cycle when building steel and water piping in the area served by the xfmr didn’t qualify as a grounding electrode another type of electrode such as a rod could be used (in addition to the required local bonding).

Since 250.30(4) now requires that the building GES be used, my question is: if I bond my transformer to the local (non GE) building steel, and the interconnected steel is permitted by 250.68(C) be used as a GEC, is there anything else I need to do given the fact that all of the individual building electrodes are bonded together through individual bonding jumpers back to the MDP neutral bar where the service disconnect is located?

Haven’t I satisfied the requirement by connection to the steel that is previously connected to the building GES?
