grounding metal staging

Situation:
Metal staging is being used as a platform to perform electrical work and a cord connected, 480Volt, 3 phase blower/motor is sitting on the staging(the cord has (3) phase conductors plus an equipment ground conductor). In

Question:
In addition to locally grounding the staging to prevent unwanted voltage buildup, should a bonding jumper be connected fom the blower equipment grounding conductor to the staging to establish an effective ground fault current path should any or all of the current carrying phase conductors contact the staging due to a cut/worn spot in cord the insulation?

Thanks

Mike D.

What is "voltage buildup" and why would grounding the staging prevent it?

IMO, there is no need to either ground or bond the staging.

There is a need to inspect the cord to make sure it is safe IAW OSHA requirements.

Probably talking about static electricity...

Edit: Or maybe not, upon reading the OP more carefully.

I am always a little suspicious of posts that ask this kind of question on the poster's first post and then don't come back to respond to the comments made.
