grounding of gas piping sys

art. 250.52 b1 says not to gnd undergnd. gas pipe. should it be grounded on the house side of meter?
art 250.104 b says to bond to the elec. service enclousure per to table 250.122.

yea, let us create an explosion just in case the lightning lets the people live through that portion of the fire.

what a think boys?

Gas cant explode in a pipe with no O2. Only if there a leak and then there is a bigger problem.

most likely it is grounded by one of the appliances anyway.
I assume someone has determined the the hazard of a "energized" pipe presents more danger than the possible lighting problem.

250.104 (B) Other Metal Piping. Where installed in or attached to a building or structure, a metal piping system(s), including gas piping, that is likely to become energized shall be bonded to the service equipment enclosure, --The equipment grounding conductor for the circuit that is likely to energize the piping shall be permitted to serve as the bonding means. The points of attachment of the bonding jumper(s) shall be accessible.

The interior metal gas pipe is generally bonded via the egc of the bc which may energize it.

now if you are working in a structure that has CSST you have a whole other issue.
