Grounding on receways

On a current job we are installing several power feeders on the same raceway, cable tray in this case. We are sizing the grounding conductor for
this raceway accordingly to 250.95 (that means, as per the largest overcurrent device protecting circuit wires on the raceway). For
circuits drops to equipment, we are sizing the grounding conductor as per the overcurrent device protecting each circuit, then we tap this grounding drop to the grounding conductor on the cable tray.
Is this a code-approved practice? I can't find any reference on the code for it.

Re: Grounding on receways

Just curious, is this for DC powered equipment?

When you are talking feeder circuits, an EGC is ran with each circuit and paired with phase and neutral conductors. Sized per 250.122 or 250.95 1996 code

The same holds true with branch circuits. Or in other words you run an individual EGC with each circuit.

The only place where I have seen a common ground conductor not run with phase and neutral conductors is with DC power plants.

Refer to 300.3

Dereck: Is an equipment ground conductor installed in each conduit based on the largest circuit? or is there one with each circuit?

I see I was reading while Dereck and Bennie were posting.
Seems we came up with something different anyhow.

Ok, I guess I just didn't understand the original question. Just now caught the cable rack part.

You can use a common EGC for all circuits contained in a raceway.

Thanks Russ and Bennie, you woke me up. :D

Re: Grounding on receways

What I meant is that we have more than 2 AC circuits running on the same raceway, with a common EGC sized as per 250.95 (?96 code).
Circuits drop at different locations. Is it right to have the grounding conductor for this drops tapped to the common EGC conductor on the cable tray?.

Tapping the ground conductor is the only way to connect each receptacle.

Dereck: Your batting average is still way above the average. :D
