Grounding rode capacity

i want to know the capacity of a grounding rod. whenever i ask about how many grounding rod i would for a project, most engineers tell me 2 or 3 but never give a full reason why. i want a better understanding of this. i s it okay to just have 2 or if there are no rules install 20 if i wanted?

But to answer your question you can have as many as you like, in no case does the NEC require more than 2.

Most times when I ask design engineers why they designed the GES the way they did I never get a good answer either.

But as Iwire points out, the NEC never requires more than two.
