Hey guys newby here.

I have done some residentual work but it has been a while now so I am going to ask some dumb questions if you do not mind. I am moving a meter base (200 amp service)to make way for an addition to my house. I am going to have to move my grounding rod which means I will have to drive in a new one. What size of rod is required now a days and did they change the requirements to 2 rods? Also I thought that they changed and made it where you could not use AL wire anymore. Thanks

You need to review much of Article 250 since you haven't done this for awhile. Perhaps it would be best to hire a licensed and insured electrical contractor?

If you need to ask these types of questions, you really ned to hire a professional. There is not now, and has never been a blanket NEC prohibition against aluminum wiring. Read artiucle 250 to determine grounding needs. If there is a UFER Ground available in your new addition you will be required to use it and no ground rods will be needed.
