The steel columns in a tilt up wall building are not buried in the earth. They are bolted to concrete pada. The steel roof decking sits on top of the concrete tilt up walls. My question is how would you ground the roof deck as well as the framing steel?
My question is based on a new tilt up wall building that called for grounds to building steel, cold water pipe and ground rods. The building concrete is finished. All walls are up. They are starting to put the roof decking up. The only ground that was installed is in the electric room, and that consists of ground wires to the rebars. I am not sure if there is any ground to the cold water line.
Several transformers will be located throughout the building, each requiring a ground. The AHJ is asking the contractor how he will ground the building steel, roof top units and transformers. I think the EC is stuck.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
