I have to ground to building steel in a project and I have used a rated beam clamp before that you tighten to the beam and the bolt breaks off when you have the right torque. Does this ring a bell with anybody?

We use a mechanical lug or put a 1 hole crimp on the end of the wire. Then we just nut and bolt it to the beam. Don't forget to grind paint.

I have seen something that you've described in a high rise office building. I agree that it should be a listed product. Better than one of these.

Well first thats not the way to ground building steel and a beam clamp is not used to bond a rebar or a beam in that manor .

On rebar if you cant cadweld it. Use a regular ground rod clamp its the way to do it right .

Ill find you a picture of our beam attachment we use its a clamp but its made for a beam and it doesnt come of ever .

Dont ever drill a hole in a structual beam ever on some jobs you can get into a big mess with the Art/Eng its just not a good practice they kinda dont like that .

Rob, the end of the metal conduit should also be grounded. This creates a shunt with this setup. They should have used PVC conduit for this ground run. I see this alot on the back of houses going to the ground rod. Looks pretty but is not compliant.

Unless someone see something here about the concrete grounding the EMT. That is what is so cool about this forum. The knowledge is endless on here.

That photo is of an isolated grounding conductor from a panel terminating to "building steel" in a federal office building. It's actually just attached to a piece of rebar in the ceiling above the panel. There are numerous violations in that one.

Yes, it does ring a bell.
Look at Thomas and Betts IBG20-40 for a C-clamp version or the Burndy YGIB
