Grounding XO

If an electrical system contains enough electrons to be self supporting, meaning that none are needed from ground. Why does a transformer need to have the neutral or XO bonded to ground to keep the voltage from floating? The reason I ask this question is I feel that an electrical system uses the earth for electrons to maintain the voltage/pressure in the system.

Vica1ME, welcome to the forum.

The short answer is the earth is not a source of electrons for the electrical system.

Below is a link to a past thread on this forum and a post written by a great member here. It is not a direct answer to your question but should be a good help to you.
