I am building a 1200 amp 3 phase 120/208 service with 6 meters. I am concerned I may not know exactly how to ground this set up. The risers come into a tapbox to which the meter cans are attached by bus bars. I have three parallel 500 kcmils cables for each phase and the neutral. each phase comes in through a separate riser. anyway I am unsure exactly how to ground this service. Help!

Re: grounding

Before your concerns are addressed, you list yourself as being a journeyman electrician. Do you work for an electrical contractor who has a Master or Electrical Contractor license who can help you?

Grounding may be the least of your concerns. There is absolutely no reason to run isolated phases in each riser, and you may have some serious problems if you used metal raceway and enter metallic enclosured, which it sounds like you did.

It sounds to me like you need to study more about grounding and bonding before you attempt a project like this. People here will be happy to answer your questions, but I am simply concerned about what you are doing.

Re: grounding

Sixstrings,

Could you provide some more information? Does the 1200 amp service have a main service disconnect? Or do each of your feeders have a disconnect at the meters?
