In 250.48 it allows grounds to be attached directly to the box without a bus bar. How would a grounding screw be described in this situation.

Re: grounds bonded to service panel

Green in color and made for grounding the box. You can not use the mounting screws or any other type of screw. Go to you local electrical supply and they will have them in stock. The section you are trying to refer to is 250.148(a)

Re: grounds bonded to service panel

Highkvoltage, excluding self tapping or mounting screws, where does it say the screw must be green or can't be another type of machine threaded screw?

Note that 406.9(B) is for the device screw and not for the connection to the box.

Re: grounds bonded to service panel

I also agree with Roger and Pierre (good company to agree with :) ) there is no requirement for a grounding screw for equipment grounding to be green

There are two places in the code that require green screws that I am aware of;

1)For a device as 250.126 requires.

2)When a screw is used as the main bonding jumper as 250.28(B) requires.

You may use green grounding screws but they are not UL listed anymore than a silver 10-32 machine screw is. :D
