East coast

The way it looks those of us on the East coast may need to stock up also and keep a eye on Hanna. From what they are saying the end of the week could be interesting.

I worked in NO on & off for about six years. Not a day went by without someone bringing up a hurricane hitting Lake Pontchartrain and the end of the world.

I love the people & the area but a city that must have pumps running constantly to survive has a problem.

Nowhere else in this country would they allow someone to rebuild in a floodplain. Pres. Bush said they would rebuild only after raising the ground level, where needed.

Hey guys, just an update.

I have been without power since Monday. I lost everything in my fridge and freezer which sucks but other than that have been very fortunate.

I am staying at my mother's home, which got power back yesterday, so all is well now for me. Many others did not fair so well...

The city of Baton Rouge has never had an event like this. It looks like a war zone out here there are trees down on every street in every neighborhood in every parish in south LA. Power outages have never been this extensive in the BR area. It is crazy.

Although it is second nature on the gulf coast for folks to prepare for hurricanes many were not prepared for anything of this magnitude. Many water supplies have been compromised, Natural gas lines ruptured, transmission lines downed across roads and I-10 and I-12.

Some areas will not have power for up to a month, I have about a week at my house. Gas lines are hours long and there has never been a better time to be a generator dealer in south LA.

Thanks to all the lineman out there getting us back online

Man could you twist wire nuts with 6 fingers and a thumb!!

Went it to big blue this afternoon to pick up some meter bases and other items to have on hand just in case. I was talking with a sales person he said people were lined up at 7 am and they sold out of generators by 9am. This was a brand new store that just opened this week so I am not sure of there stock but I wiped them out of 200 amp bases, 2'' hubs and weather heads.
