Say you have an exterior gutter with service conductors inside of it. The gutter is going to feed 3-200 amp main breaker panels. Where do you bond the neutral and the grounding electrode conductors, in the gutter or at the 3 panels? Thanks in advance.

Re: Gutters

Now what if I have a service disconnect ahead of the gutter and Im still going to feed 3-200 amp panels from the gutter. Would I then bond the neutral and GEC's at the service disconnect and the gutter and not install the bonding screw at the 3 panels? Im just trying to understand when you bond the neutrals and GEC's inside of a gutter.

Any equipment on the supply side of the service disconnect and including a service disconnect enclosure you need to bond the neutral to the enclosures.

Do not bond any equipment on the load side of the service disconnect, that equipment needs a separate grounding conductor.

Take a look at 250.142(A) and 250.142(B).

Lets revive an old post!

Main disconnect present- all grounding and bonding done per code.
Feeders out to gutters for taps with neutrals floated and grounding conductors installed............
Directly below said gutter are meters that have bonded neutral blocks.
I know the grounding conductor shall be there and pass thru the meter into sub disconnect for suite, but what would the proper method of bonding or not bonding to grounded conductor here?

Bob,
Any equipment on the supply side of the service disconnect and including a service disconnect enclosure you need to bond the neutral to the enclosures.
But this bond is not required to be a "direct" bond in the gutter. The service raceways can be used to bond the gutter. The path would be via the grounded conductor to the main bonding jumper(s) in the service disconnect(s) to the metallic raceway to the gutter.

I guess I didn't word my question right:roll:

After the bonded connection in the main disco of the grounded and grounding conductors- the two conductors are ran into a wireway. in the wireway those two conductors shall be separated and the grounding conductor will ground the wireway and the neutral will be "floated". Out of the wireway there are 5 meters fed with 2" PVC where the neutral is again bonded to the enclosure, equipment ground......

Is it O.K. for the grounded conductor to again be bonded to the enclosure and equipment ground that is required to be there.

Most installers use PVC instead of metallic conduit to connect enclosures so bonding bushings are not a worry.

I hope this is a little better stated
