h20 clamps on ground rod

Is it ok to use a water ground clamp on a ground rod? I normally use the acorn ground nut, but just want to check to see if it's acceptable if that's all I have. Thanks.

MD's right.
The clamp will have a little round lable on it. Telling you that it is okay.
If it does not have the lable then it is for indoor use only.
 
Some of them are universal, which often requires that the one half be flipped over to work on a rod. I don't like them, but I see them from time to time. They're always loose.
