Guy claimed to be an electrician.

Lots of people can claim to be electricians or just about anything else.

I once went to a job where a guy claimed to be a handyman, electrician and so on. He had started doing a complete basement finish for a customer. As far as I could tell the guy didn't know how to do anything. I would guess his total experience was watching you tube and not paying close attention.

I had been talking, via phone, to my nephew about how to wire their new well house. He told me they decided to hire it done even though it cost plenty. It looked so much like the rest of the wiring on the place, I didn't say anything...about this anyway.

Now if you had seen how the temporary receptacles for the reception were wired. You would be very proud of it. Guaranteed they were not going to overload that circuit or trip a GFCI.:jawdrop:
I found it the next morning during cleanup detail. No Pictures. I just couldn't.

Found these, all on the same job a few weeks ago. This is what's passing for "electrical work" these days in some circles.

Here's more from the same job. Pay special attention to the THHN run with a piece of 2 wire. He ran out of 3 wire!...then he made an open slice in the ceiling. Good times.

The switch box is typical of the other switches we looked at. Real crap work.

are those single conductors under a metal roof there? and no cover on the receptacle... know my eyesihgt is bad but, that wire does not enter the box from side or such but from right beside the receptacle, doesnt it? Jeez... and this was a licensed electrician? What am I studying code for?

I doubt this guy was licensed. He did abscond with the money before correcting this though. Imagine that.

He claimed to be an electrician, we haven't heard if he was licensed. You're studying because you want to know.

ok, just me asking, but how does he consider the wires secured within 12 inches? By going through the hole in the stud? And the bend is too tight as well...lol
And even I know that the box is overfilled, but what gets me as well is trying to figure out his numbering system. I number based on breakers, and then use letters for light switch circuits, but all numbers to a circuit should match... it looks like he just put a bunch of numbers on wires since he was told to label stuff...lol...maybe he was listening to a car race that day...
