Halo H7ICT

I'm installing H7ICT cans with 6100 trim, both of which are rated for use with BR40 lamps. I've raised the socket plate as high as I can without defeating the limiting tang and the bulb protrudes about 2". Surely this isn't how it's intended to look.

What am I missing? Is there a better housing/trim to use with the BR40 lamp?
