Does anyone know of a code article, or installation guide for clearances of Halogen lamps. I?ve searched everywhere, and found nothing. The closest thing I came is NEC article 410.11. It addresses Luminaires Near Combustible Materials and states that some means of shade or guard be installed so that the material is not subjected to temperatures in excess of 194 degrees F.
The situation I?m in is the installation may not be in close proximity of combustible materials, but I feel I may be in excess of the 194 degree temperature which will discolor the drywall soffit and reduce the lamp life without proper ventilation. I personally think the electrical inspector may take issue if I?m not able to replace the lamps without removing the luminaire.
Besides what I wrote above, can anyone help to make light of this situation.
