I just bought a DW hammer drill model # D25550K and I thought it would work a little better than it does. It has a impact force of 7.3 lbs but doesn't even start to drive the ground rod. I thought I the wrong ground rod attachment but after talking with DW they assured me that it was correct.
Has any one used this drill sucessfully in driving ground rods?
Chris.

That drill is way to light to drive ground rods. You need to get 10 lbs or better to do a nice job at that. Hopefully you didn't buy this drill purposely to drive ground rods.

Chris, I agree with Marc, we mostly use 35 pound demolition hammers for driving rods.

I just use a hammer and if that's not cutting it then I break out the 3 pound sledge. Just put the acorn on first so that after the end mushrooms you don't have to cut it off in order to get the acorn on.

along with being on the small side, it could be how your working the tool, If your pushing down or forcing it, your not letting the tool do the work all you have to do is hold the tool in position and give just a little downward pressure.
