I was wondering what was the most common way to carry tools and what was carried. Tool pouch? Pockets?

I do a lot of service work and I always wear a tool belt w/suspenders. One side has a multi-pocketed pouch that hold wirenuts, screws, staples. The other side is a Klein tool pouch that contains: needle nose, diag's, t-wire strippers, linesman, utility knife, 6" 1/4" screwdriver, 4" 3/16" screwdriver, ratcheting screrwdriver w/philips bit, channellocks, awl, glow pen. Also 2-"D" cell Maglite, 25' tape, voltage/continuty tester.

Been carrying the same stuff for 30 years.

Since you've been around 30+ years I have to ask, is that 25' tape one of those wooden folding ones or a modern retractable type tape?

My pouch wasn't so bad when I worked new construction as I could just put in the tools I needed at the time. When I started doing facility maintenance was when I started carrying everything I thought I might need. Put my pouch on the scale one time and it weighed over 20 pounds.

12 pounds without hammer and drill

That reminds me: one of these days, I'm going to have to break in my Klein barbecue spatula and fork.

So now you can see, how Haskins Electric is able to rough out at so a low price, the guys can keep working, while they are cooking and eating, and the customers like the idea that there are no beer cans left on the job they go in the can holder, on the tool belt.

depends what im doing. i have a pouch with most needed nutdrivers and other basic handtools and nails, wirenuts and other hardware. if im changing a lot of ballasts or something where i might need a lot of different tools then ill wear the pouch. if im in a house troubleshooting or something small like that ill put the pouch down and grab a #2 philips, a straight blade, linesmans, roll of tape, and a voltage tester or a meter. maybe even some dikes

I will feebly admit that I do have a tool pouch. However; I have so many hand tools that I got a tool bag. But that started weighing ~40 pounds. So I got a red service cart from Harbor Freight. So this carries the pouch, bag and all kinds of other stuff.
Other than that, the back pocket carries the tools for the task at hand and a canvas tool apron carries some handy tools like a 6" half round file and utility knife. I suppose there is some sort of calculus between carrying around tools you don't need but might and the time to get the tool you want but don't have on you.

only 4 tools required for facility maintenance...flat and phillips (10 in 1 is no good) channel locks and linemans...the rest just makes life a little easier...
