we got some hangers today that mount to a 4x4 j.box, they are to be used for hanging high bay met. hal. lights. They have a swivel with a nipple all made into the plate, something like a ceiling fan ball that hangs from a canopy. Has anyone else used these before? Are they legal to use by just hanging from the 8-32's in the 4x4? I was thinking of drilling the opposite sides of the plates and the boxes and running a bolt through both for extra support. Thanks, Paul

[Edit add: I figured it out you're talking about a Steel City 4-square SH Swivel Cover].
See page 39 of 40 for image.

Re: hangers

I have hung hi-bays this way, using only the 8/32s for support, but the box has always been an octagan 4/0 box, never had a problem.

Re: hangers

I used a bunch of these in a gym for some low bay fixtures. I used 4 inch round fan boxes with 10/32 screws. Seemed alot stronger than the 8/32's.
