I'm going to sneak out a little early. I & the wife are going to see Marley & Me, then go home & eat some homemade onion soup.
Let's see any of you top THAT for excitement, eh?
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Well, we aren't going anywhere tonight. There will be enough maniacs on the road; they don't need me.
We might fire up the projector and watch a couple of movies, and maybe even watch the ball drop in HD.
I'm going to make PJ's recipe for sweet'n'sour meatballs, and a big batch of my ex's grandmother's sausage swirls.*
Almost as exciting as onion soup.

Who knows? I may pop back in tonight. If not, see all y'all (plural of y'all) next year!
Happy New Year! ~

*Sausage-swirl recipe: open a tube of crescent rolls, lay the entire rectangle of dough out flat on tin foil, and pinch the seams together.
Spread a pound of sausage (I like Jimmy Dean's sage flavor) out on the dough. Roll the gough and sausage up like a jelly roll with the foil around it.
Put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes, while the oven pre-heats to the temperature on the roll label (375 on the Pillsbury crescents I use).
Added: Why do we say pre-heat, instead of heat? It's like when we pre-drill holes: are we supposed to use a pre-bit?
Take roll out of freezer, unwrap foil, slice into 1/2" to 3/4" slices, spread out on cookie sheet, bake until the dough is golden-brown.
I like them with a slice of cheddar cheese melted on top, sometimes with ketchup, sometimes both. They refrigerate and m/w-reheat well.
