i've a lot to be grateful for, both personally and professionally.

i just wanted to take a moment and thank all of you who have helped
me on this forum with both knowledge and creative spark. you've helped
me a lot.

the other day, i was leaving the port of long beach, and it was starting
to rain, and a cold wind was coming across san pedro, and the sun was
going down, and crossing one of the roads into the docks was a homeless guy.....

looked about 30, but it was a really old 30, and hadn't seen much in
the way of a shower in a few months it seemed.... and he was wearing
a t shirt, and had a scrap of towel wrapped around his waist, and
he had to hold it to his side, clutching it so it wouldn't fall.

and that was it.

t shirt, and a rag. no shoes, nothing.

if you are reading this, you have a lot to be grateful for... not just that
you aren't walking barefoot and almost naked in the rain, but that
you weren't the person desperate enough to steal the pants and shoes,
'cause you didn't have any yourself.

happy thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Randy.

Been kind of a tough year for us and have a little bit of a health issue, but I can get out of bed every morning and have a house to go home to at night and enough to eat and a loving family, so all and all it's a wash.:happyyes:

We are blessed beyond comprehension in this country. We could all be in the situation the homeless guy is in with a couple of strokes of bad luck.

It is a shame that we have to be scared to help others or bring strangers into our home for fear of being robbed or killed.

My son is bringing somebody he met with nowhere to go today. My son's girlfriend is out of state visiting her family. I have no clue who this person is, but I am glad he thought of others.

Happy thanksgiving everybody!

And remember as you venture out tomorrow, if you absolutely must punch someone tomorrow to get a good deal on a tv, the throat is a sensitive area and your hands will likely be in a good position to keep it from hitting the floor. No kicks to the groin, you will likely miss and hit the appliance.

I have a heap to be thankful for, including my friends here. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today (Thanksgiving Day) I will be at home alone. Tomorrow and Saturday we make up for it at my sister's on the lake.

Even though I have much to complain about, I do consider myself very fortunate to have lived my life the way it played out, good, bad and otherwise.

Thank you to all for all of your help and insight.

I am also a member of another Vbulletin forum, QRZ, for ham radio. It's quite a bit like this site, only with a different theme. In a few minutes I will be doing what makes QRZ a bit special. I will be turning on the radio for the Thanksgiving Day Net and will attempt to actually talk to the people I post to on nearly a daily basis. It's fun, and I am thankful I can concentrate on making contacts.

Then two days of Thanksgiving with my families.

Had to balance out the Hallmark moment. :D

it may be overbalanced... but we have 5 weeks of the silly season ahead, so
any unused sarcasm will be absorbed by excessive hallmark moments.

the suicide prevention hotline refers to the thanksgiving, christmas, new years
sequence as the bermuda triangle. not everyone deals with it well.

it's the expectations... "i should have a big family gathering", or "i should do bla, bla, bla..."

if the only gift you give this year is to yourself, make it this:

Thou shalt not expect all over oneself.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Everyone enjoy the turkey, football, and whatever else you have to be thankful for on this truly unique American holiday (sorry Canada). My friends from England are jealous of us today.

Been running back and forth between my house and the church hall my wife and I rented. This year we are up to 42 everyone is bringing something. We have arts and crafts for all the kids, the young kids outnumber the adults. :D

Got a sound system for music set up, big screen for football up and running, lucky we have many DTV over the air stations to choose from. The church does not have cable.;)

Should be a great time.:)
