Hard-Wired Connection

Is there a portion of the NEC that speaks to requirements for hard-wired connections for faucets in commercial buildings? Electrician is telling me an outlet is required but the drawings say to hard-wire.

What drawings? From the manufacturer or a design firm? The only thing the NEC will say on this topic is to follow any requirements in the manufacturer's instructions.

My experience in designing electrically controlled faucets and toilets is that they are all hard-wired to a transformer generally installed above the entry door to the bathroom.

Gotcha. I would look at the listing instructions. With that said they would need to be GFCI protected and using a receptacle would provide a local disconnecting means too.

Design firm drawings. My experience is same as yours...hard-wired...transformer in ceiling space...per manufacturer's instructions. I am guessing the electrician is going to point to 208 or 210 in the book, which is when an outlet is installed it has to be GFCI. If you have a reference to where it will say to follow the manufacturer's recommendations, I would appreciate it sir.
